Creative Modes of Learning and Teaching in our Education Programmes
Grounded in the Steiner Waldorf approach,
the CCE is inspired by diverse educational approaches including:
Reggio Emilia approach; Philosophy with Children.
An Imaginative approach
to develop student-teachers’ imaginations so that they are able to extend children’s naturally alive imagination into imaginative learning in the natural and social sciences, in literacy and mathematics – allowing them to relate well to these subjects, and experience learning to be meaningful.
An Arts-based approach
to provide depth of experience in learning, brought about by inventiveness, experiences of beauty and human expressiveness through the use of arts-based approaches to teaching and learning. CCE seeks to develop the artistic competencies of all student-teachers through diverse modes of art pedagogies (visual arts, performing arts, literary arts)
An Active Learning approach
to mediate student-teachers’ learning in a range of educational methodologies and theories (for example enquiry-based, reflective practices and experiential learning). This approach fosters active participation and collaborative engagement in order to develop personal responsibility for individual learning.
Our Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Degree in Foundation Phase Teaching is a full time four year programme.
Through creative education this fully CHE accredited degree equips graduates through arts based, inquiry based and active-learning approach.
